“Yeah, we crushin’ the man”

These two are nothing but trouble. With their powers sets they could easily take over the world. Lily is nearly God tier powerful and Emil is a ridiculously skilled mercenary – the man always has knives on him, he sleeps with them under his pillow. Luckily Lily doesn’t want to be the ruler of the world and Emil is perfectly happy being a bartender.

I actually love how this came out. It was based off a ref of a knight saving a princess BUT since Lily doesn’t need saving I turned it into another ‘fight team’ pic of them. Despite how much they fight each other they do make an amazing team. I love how they’re holding on to each other – it’s like Emil is holding her to keeping himself steady as he throws and she’s holding him to keep track of him. They’re both a little too happy about attacking people. Pretty sure who ever it is they have it coming.

Can you tell I’ve been watching Black Panther over and over? I decided that these two are always going to be wearing matching bracelets 🙂

Extraordinary

You could make a drinking game out of the amount of times I draw Kiddo examining her own powers. She does it once an issue at least and it’s my go to pose for her stand alone pictures. It’s always impressive. Especially when you consider how far I’ve come. I’m really trying to get a handle on this 1/4 angle – it’s kicking my ass. Still looks bizarre to me, might look better in the panels of the comic – make those standard profile shots look more dynamic. :shrug: My favorite part of Kiddo is all that luscious red hair. I knew I wanted her to be wearing green before I even drew her clothes. Can you tell that I’m been reading X-men lately? Thought I’d draw my own all powerful ginger and flex my technique and fashion muscle a little. Not really a fan of X-men Blue cause it’s a friggin mess. Gold and Red are by far my favorites because it has my man as a main character. Just got done reading Phoenix Resurrection and I’m gonna dive into some Rogue and Gambit just cause I love them so much

Fury: Midnight

Last time I drew Del she was fast asleep. This time she’s wide awake and ready to make someone sorry they messed with her. Dressed to kill – my badass boss lady. Y’know I’m realizing a lot of my pictures start because I see a cute pair of shoes on pinterest. The original pair were peep toe but I put a gold toe on this cause you can’t really see the front at this angle. Speaking of which I thought it had been a while since I played around with the perspective tool in CSP. This time instead of an arial shot I thought I’d try a mid-height city, on a glass balcony just to torture myself. Two things I suck at: drawing water and drawing glass.

Baby Knows

Rather random drawing of Sonya I felt like doing after finishing issue #6. Yup! Issue #6 is now officially remastered and formatted and with luck it’ll be printed this month! You only see Sonya for about three panels in issue #6 and maybe that’s why I drew her – I missed her. Plus it’s spring time now and if there’s any season that fits my bright girl it’s spring. She’s all bright colors and flowers and beautiful things. My pretty Sonya 🙂

Love & Honesty! Peace & Harmony!

Happy New Year!! First pic of the year I felt just had to be my boy Hunter. And since it’s 2018 I imagined what he’d look like at 18 years old. It’s not a far stretch from his age in the comic now (which is 15/16) but literally the day he turns 18 Hunter goes out a gets a new accessory in honor of his mother. Not sure how Ellie would feel about her baby having a big ass hand tattoo but it looks cool doesn’t it? Hunter is such a precious baby with his mop curls and crocked smile. He’s actually an excellent little brother – always supportive of his twin and older sister… even when they fly off the handle. My Huney-bun deserves all the love in the world

Nobody else might notice but it freaks me out how much I actually made him look like his father. He’s like a tan, curly haired John minus the freckles. He’s John all over except for his eyes – all the Breland kids have their mother’s eyes.

10 years of Sonya Dey

I checked the facts and it’s been 10 years since I first created Sonya. The sweetheart telepath we all know and love! She’s come so far and changed so much. Back when she had long hair she was a romance writer with no powers dating a sullen, dark horror writer we all know as Darkly. Needless to say a story about writers was NOT exciting. Years later I would revamp the two love birds as part of the super powered crew of Illegal Tender. According to the time stamps Sonya first got her signature asymmetric bob haircut in 2010 (incidentally that’s when I had that haircut too). And she’s been getting progressively more ‘wind-swept’ ever since LOL

You can literally see her go from meek to chic 🙂 That’s how you tighten-up a drawing style, I was still very anime-esque during her creation. The second pic you can see where I started thick, western comic lines. Eventually I learned to color the lines and make them not so stark in her fair hair. My new shading technique evens out the tones. In a few years I’m probably evolve again and hopefully Sonya will still be around.

Updating the girls looks for 2017 – I have it in my head that Sonya doesn’t get enough shine so you’re gonna see a lot of her this year cause she’s an awesome, complex character. If you could put her in a role she’s the heart of the team. She often wants everyone to do well and is pretty much everyone best friend. Although Darkly doesn’t really like her being so close to Emil – considering how Emil first met her I’m not surprised…

I’m in love with my new coloring style. When compared side by side with my old way of shading it looks… unbelievable. I’ve been shading my way for nearly 5 years but you learn something new everyday and sometimes it’s good stuff. Lines were done in ClipPaintStudio/Manga Studio – color and BG are photoshop

Kiddo VS Akari

My entry in the ‘League of Samurai Ultimate Knife Fight’ contest on Instagram. Their character designs are awesome and  couldn’t help but pick their resident red head Akari to go toe-to-toe with my resident red head Kiddo. Not sure who would win this…Akari is definitely better at hand to hand combat – kind of Kiddo’s biggest flaw she’s not very good at sword or fist fights but she’s had her powers since birth so he’s pretty good at using it to manifest things. Plus any wound she gets her powers heal automatically. So who knows who would win – they’d probably end up being best friends in the end

By All Degrees That You Will See…

Well well – while digging around in the basement I found the very first project folder for Illegal Tender and it contained the first (failed) pages of the comic and a hand written script about the first issue. Needless to say it’s come a long way since then. But the picture on the front of the folder was this very old picture

Not to toot my own horn but I’ve improved so much they hardly even look like the same group of people. Six years is a long time and my babies have come so far. Can’t believe the crew has been together that long
