Fly High!
Y’know while watching Haikyuu I suddenly got the feeling that I had seen something like it somewhere before. A short, redhead who has amazing abilities partnered with a taller, surly, dark-haired boyfriend. Yeah… yeah. The similarities don’t stop there. It was only as I thinking of stuff for them to say that I noticed that Shoyo really does look like John Breland. Alpha has some explaining to do. I got my degree in character design from Anime-U so I’m not surprised at the number of redheads out there that fit the description.
Shoyo and Kiddo are now officially the cutest cuties EVER! And he’d fit right in with the Breland clan. Emil isn’t having it though and Tobio would put up a pretty good fight if they tried to steal his precious Shoyo. I love how conflicted he looks – he wants to get away from these strange people but he also wants a turn to fly.

Pheromone
“Wash over me like an ocean… controlling my every motion”
Yeah this is what happens when you listen to Prince for nearly five months. Your characters start to act out his music and there’s no avoiding it. The song Pheromone just screamed “Lily and Emil doing semi-kinky shit”. Given Emil’s powers – he can literally concentrate his senses to a near molecular level. Lily’s scent is rather distinctive to him. Take away his sight and he’d still be able to find her in the dark. Or… across a tri-state area.
Why the handcuffs? They match her bra, duh! These two don’t get together for a while yet in the comic but when they do I imagine they feel comfortable enough to experiment. His blindfold was going to be lace at first but it refused to look right. I wanted her to be smiling more but she just looks so cool like this.
Issue 3 page 5 preview
Surprise Preview of Issue #3 remaster! Yes, I decided to post the whole page instead of just a segment because this WHOLE PAGE had to be done over and it came out fantastic. The wip of this got so many faves that I wanted to show everyone how it turned out. Le sigh – it’s never going to be that easy for these two. But they’ll get there… eventually 🙂
The Beautiful Ones
So yes if Kiddo is the most beautiful girl in the world stands to reason her boyfriend is ‘the beautiful one’. Sad thing is Emil doesn’t think he’s beautiful or even good looking. His entire childhood his father would tell him he was ugly because of his heterochromia. In fact Emil suffered abuse for years simply because he didn’t look normal. Yeah, his dad was a jerk – he still refers to Emil as ‘a demon’.
It’s taken him a few years to realize people might actually find him attractive – compared to Darkly (who I consider very handsome) Emil falls under the category of ‘pretty boy’. He has slanted eyes, long lashes, high cheek bones and head full of silky hair. Emil in turn would say that he’s ‘too pale’ has a bump in his nose, his teeth are scary, etc. It’s not that he’s fishing for compliments he just doesn’t think he’s good looking. Poor baby.
Haven’t drawn Emil by himself in over a year so yes, this happened 🙂
Power Couple
This was originally going to be a pic of her protecting him. My process on Vine you can sort of see where Emil was going to be behind her at first. But it turned into this which is cuter. I was also going to call it ‘The Green Team’
Haven’t drawn these two together in a while and I didn’t want the regular kissy pic I do of my couples. This might be good enough for a postcard print. Buy Issue #1
Promises 2
Finally found a sketch app for my Cintiq that’s half way decent and didn’t cost anything to save my work. So of course I drew Kiddo and Emil. I was still in my feels for them since yesterday’s tbt post was of how they first met way back in the day. My kids have come a long way since then 🙂
Throwback Thursday: When Kiddo met Emil
Not everyone knows Kiddo and Emil used to be completely different from his they are now. Back in 2004 they were part of an anthropomorphic whatever-that-comic-was-about-who-cares. Anyway I still love this page of how they met and how sweet little Emil was. Just like in I.T. he is the first person to call Lily ‘Kiddo’
Remastered page 3, 4 and 5
Happy November! Getting closer to 2016 means getting closer to the release of the remastered issue #1. These page needed a minimum of fixes but they came out great!
