The Beautiful Ones

So yes if Kiddo is the most beautiful girl in the world stands to reason her boyfriend is ‘the beautiful one’. Sad thing is Emil doesn’t think he’s beautiful or even good looking. His entire childhood his father would tell him he was ugly because of his heterochromia. In fact Emil suffered abuse for years simply because he didn’t look normal. Yeah, his dad was a jerk – he still refers to Emil as ‘a demon’.

It’s taken him a few years to realize people might actually find him attractive – compared to Darkly (who I consider very handsome) Emil falls under the category of ‘pretty boy’. He has slanted eyes, long lashes, high cheek bones and head full of silky hair. Emil in turn would say that he’s ‘too pale’ has a bump in his nose, his teeth are scary, etc. It’s not that he’s fishing for compliments he just doesn’t think he’s good looking. Poor baby.

Haven’t drawn Emil by himself in over a year so yes, this happened 🙂

For You

Luc-unfinished

Alternate title was “For Erol”. I was originally going to put Erol’s name on Luc’s guitar but this particular guitar is not the one Luc has in the comic. It’s based off a MTV unplugged performance by Prince in which he plays a purple acoustic guitar (you can still see it in my twitter feed on my main page). I DREW LUC!! If you caught the comic before I took it down for revamping this blue haired beauty is Luc Jones – Erol’s future husband He’s a secondary character in I.T. and I so rarely get the time to draw them. When I originally created Luc I knew I wanted him to be a musician with a very angelic voice and now his songs are going to be mostly about how much he loves Erol – with a bunch of dirty verses about his red haired muse. Although most people won’t realize he’s singing about another boy :)

People who actually know about guitars and music please don’t kill me – I actually have no idea about it at all. Not sure what kind of guitar he’ll actually play in the comic but I’m open to suggestions.

Something cute I thought of when trying to decide who to draw. I realized I’ve never drawn Katherine and Hunter together. It’s even cuter because they are both half black. Hunter is black and white – Katherine is black and asian. Team mixed kids for real! I love it when I get to show black people come in way more colors than how they are represented in mainstream comics. These two started out very rocky but just like Emil and Kiddo they’ll eventually end up together – until Kathy goes off to college :( But that’s not for a while so in the mean time we have cocky selfies on instagram.

What a pair! I haven’t drawn these two in a while. What with getting issue 1 up for sale and ordering stuff for Momocon I haven’t had time to draw except ironically when I’m at work. Still all up in Adele 21 and 25 and I thought of this when I was listening to ‘One and Only’. I don’t really get to bring it up in the comic but these two are not really the ‘relationship’ types – until they meet each other. Del was so consumed with fighting the agency and Zen… well Zen is young so neither one was really holding on to any kind of commitment. But you spend so much time together and you realize that hot black girl is looking at your boobs and things just unfold from there.

Remedy

Still knee deep in Adele 25 and I figured why not draw my IT couples even though Adele is famous for broken heart songs. Remedy isn’t one of them. It’s basically when you have a shit day – which Emil has a lot of – turn to your girl and she’ll make it better. Kiddo reminds him he’s come very far and he’s not complete shit anymore. For a very long time Emil believed he wasn’t worthy of love for the things he’s done as an agent. But training the daughter of his worst enemy made him see things different. Drawn on my Cintiq 🙂

Final Fantasy Kiddo

Behold the first round of my latest series of stand alone drawings. I decided to draw the crew in different anime and video game styles. Starting with a few of my favorites from the way back year of 2000 when they finally made it big in America.

Final Fantasy Kiddo: My favorite video game of all time has got to be Final Fantasy 7. I have no idea what drew me to the game but the summer of 2000 I was all about this game and I am counting the days until the remake comes out. what better homage to pay than to draw my main girl in the FFVII style. Fifteen years later I still love it! Her outfit is not that much changed from her regular ‘mission clothes’. Just added some gloves and suspenders to give her the same look as Tifa. And yes, that is a marteria orb holding her hair together – in the FF universe it would be how she got her powers. And a lot like Tifa she wouldn’t have a weapon – she’d fight with her fist

Gundam Wing Darkly

Gundam Wing Darkly: Since I did Darkly’s cover last I thought I’d get to him first in this round. Next on Anime inspired drawing styles is one of my favorites from the way back year of 2000 when Gundam Wing first came to Toonami. I used to draw the guys all the time back then. Now, well… not so much. Oddly enough I had to look at a bunch of references to get the coloring right. Anime is shaded so so so different from what I do. And Gundam Wing had a very specific look to it. Now that I’m not 15 anymore I realize how crazy it looks. Back then that 90’s anime style was so hot – compared to the style now it just looks sloppy. Except for the actual Gundams – those are still clean as hell.

Anyway, Darkly in the GW world would be somewhat the same although instead of being 21 he’d be like 15 years old, piloting a giant war machine and traveling to space like it was nothing.

Sailor Sonya

Sailor Sonya: She is without a doubt my most girly character so it seemed only right to make her a magical girl. Unfortunately Sailor Scouts aren’t as thick as Sonya so I had to take a little artistic liberty as to what she would look like in the sailor moon anime style. And her mission clothes are so dark compared to the over saturated coloring style from the show.

Once again the shading style was the most difficult to do. I understand the simplicity of it is so animating it is easier. I love Sonya as a Pretty Soldier – this might become her new mission outfit 🙂
