Man I haven’t drawn Darkly by himself in a minute. It’s difficult finding poses for him. He’s not an action guy like Emil. Darkly is plenty sexy but in a different way. His vocabulary is bigger than his muscles. And he spends most of his time behind a computer keeping his fellow supers off the Agency radar. It a stressful job but luckily he has Sonya to… relax him. This pose was easy enough – I didn’t realize all the angles it had tho when I found the ref. And then all of his objects had to fit into it. Luckily CSP had content paradise and it save my life with it’s posable 3D objects. I haven’t done 3D in years so figuring out the controls was fun.
I love how this came out. I just wish you could see the message on his phone clearer. It’s from a contact that he’s labeled: ‘Amor de Mi Vida’ which translates to ‘Love of my Life’. And all the message says is “I miss you. Come to bed.” Needless to say Darkly calls it a night after getting this message 😀 I say this every time but I absolutely love that Darkly wears a necklace with Sonya’s name on it. They’re my favorite couple cause they do cute stuff like that. There is actually a major spoiler in this pic and it’s very much in plain sight.
The words on the wall behind him are the lyrics to ‘U’re gonna C Me’ by Prince (he wrote his lyrics in short hand all the time, he was so precious)

10 years of Sonya Dey
I checked the facts and it’s been 10 years since I first created Sonya. The sweetheart telepath we all know and love! She’s come so far and changed so much. Back when she had long hair she was a romance writer with no powers dating a sullen, dark horror writer we all know as Darkly. Needless to say a story about writers was NOT exciting. Years later I would revamp the two love birds as part of the super powered crew of Illegal Tender. According to the time stamps Sonya first got her signature asymmetric bob haircut in 2010 (incidentally that’s when I had that haircut too). And she’s been getting progressively more ‘wind-swept’ ever since LOL
You can literally see her go from meek to chic 🙂 That’s how you tighten-up a drawing style, I was still very anime-esque during her creation. The second pic you can see where I started thick, western comic lines. Eventually I learned to color the lines and make them not so stark in her fair hair. My new shading technique evens out the tones. In a few years I’m probably evolve again and hopefully Sonya will still be around.

Check out my girls – all decked out and ready to break hearts. I pride myself of getting their personalities to come across in stand alone pictures. Zen is flirtatious but kind of mean. Lily is cute but tough. Sonya is sweet and seductive. And Del is the boss – that’s all you need to know! I love my girls 🙂

Man it’s been a while since I drew Lily strutting her stuff. And there was this pair of boots that needed to be drawn so here we are. Still staying true to her old mission clothes look of a crop shirt and ankle boots. I love her in that lipstick – I’ve been wanting to branch out as far as their makeup goes for a while now. I was in a color rut with my current palette so I loaded a palette I haven’t used in years and sure enough that purple caught my eye. Coupled with the awesome lines I did in Clip Studio and my new color style I love his this came out!
PLECTRUMELECTRUM is an awesome Prince song and it fits Lily so well.

When 2 R in Love
Oy man it has been forever since I’ve done a stand-alone with this much detail. Plus that water was hard to do (most of the time I do beach scenes the water doesn’t have to be contained). The last time I drew people in a tub was easily ten years ago. Maybe more. But I digress I’ve wanted to finish this pic since I sketched it a week ago at my temp job – something about being at work makes me wanna draw naked people. Sonya and Darkly are my favorite couple – not that I don’t love my other I.T. couples but there’s just something about Sonya and Dark that is so sweet. Sonya is the character that is most like me and Darkly… well everyone loves a confident man 🙂
You may be secure in your masculinity but you’re not Darkly-in-a-pink-flower-hair-tie-taking-a-bath secure. Not to mention that’s HIS bathroom their in. He already had the teak tub but Sonya decorated it and Darkly is totally fine with flowers and water color paintings. After all raspberry is his favorite color.
‘When 2 R in Love’ is yet another Prince song. It appears on both Lovesexy and The Black Album because… well Prince was complicated man.

Took it to a poll and guess what won! Yup yup as promised here are the first pages of Issue #7: Murder Ink – they were completed and shelved over a year ago when Illegal Tender went into publishing hiatus. This is a very special thank you to all of I.T.’s loyal fans who have hung in there while I sort this thing out. It was one hell of a year. One hell of a shitty year but I want more positive vibes for I.T. in 2017.

This is about a second before he realizes what his powers are doing 🙂
My poor darlings. I really want to do their prequel story but it’d be the saddest thing I’ve ever written – it would end where Illegal Tender begins… with them dying. But they’re so damn cute together. Here’s a tiny look at their first meeting and here’s a little story: Ellie begins work at the Agency as a resident physician and John of course falls head over heels in love at first sight. Who wouldn’t – Ellie is a total fox. And she’s smart. Plus his little unconscious love shocks don’t hurt her because she’s invulnerable. But Ellie knows who he is and is very wary. She eventually learns that he and his father are trapped within the corporation. When she learns about how old they really are it’s a little disorienting but by that time she’s in love with him.
I’d say Ellie is about 23 years old here. John is nearing 212 which is young for a being made of pure energy. His dad is nearly 500 years old ^^;
Kiddo VS Akari

My entry in the ‘League of Samurai Ultimate Knife Fight’ contest on Instagram. Their character designs are awesome and couldn’t help but pick their resident red head Akari to go toe-to-toe with my resident red head Kiddo. Not sure who would win this…Akari is definitely better at hand to hand combat – kind of Kiddo’s biggest flaw she’s not very good at sword or fist fights but she’s had her powers since birth so he’s pretty good at using it to manifest things. Plus any wound she gets her powers heal automatically. So who knows who would win – they’d probably end up being best friends in the end
